Requirements

  • new patients accepted
  • walk-ins accepted
  • General Assistance: single adults 18-64, MN resident ≥30 days, unable to work ≥45 days, little/no income or resources, not receiving SSI, no minor child in household
  • Asset limit of $10,000 applies to General Assistance, Diversionary Work Program, and MFIP
  • Emergency General Assistance: one-time annual assistance for crisis needs
  • Diversionary Work Program: low-income families up to 4 months, employment plan and active job search required, both parents must participate in two-parent families, SSN or application required
  • MFIP: families with children, 60-month lifetime limit, employment plan required, sanctions for non-cooperation
  • Proof of Minnesota residency (30-day requirement)
  • Verification of income and resources
  • Proof of inability to work for at least 45 days (General Assistance)
  • Supplemental Security Income status
  • Verification of household expenses (phone, rent/mortgage, utilities)
